If the waves are pumping and you want to check out the surfers in Laguna Beach, come to Brooks Street. You can watch the action while checking out some art, of course! Marlo Bartels designed the whirls of blues and greens swirling across the amphitheatre seats. This is a stop on my new "Hip District" tour coming very soon.

I finally found it! The dudleya stolonifera, aka the Laguna Beach liveforever. This is a rare succulent, only found in Laguna Beach and Aliso Canyon. It resides on the California and Federal endangered species list which prohibits the collection or movement of this vulnerable plant. You can see this plant on my "Hip District" walking tour, which will go live in a couple of weeks. For more information about this plant, go to: http://ocbotanybaby.com/ron-vanderhoff-the-coastal-gardener/38-clinging-to-life-in-wild-orange-county
I've got a fun project for you! Go to the Laguna Beach Water District and ask for Michelle Madriz. Michelle will give you this free pack of wildflower seeds to plant. They attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Michelle will also give you a dvd showcasing plants for your yard that are water-wise and fire-safe. Please send me pictures of your new flowers once they bloom!
I have the best job with the best tour guests! Here is the latest review on TripAdvisor.com:
"Enjoyed the walking tour past iconic lifeguard tower, art pieces (including 9-11 tribute), bird rock, shoreline, Heisler Park walkway and much much more. Hearing history of the artsy benches and "greeter" was facinating. Loved getting acquainted with Laguna Beach more intimately. Makes me want to re-visit soon. This was a great way to work up an appetite & lead to a nice lunch at one of many eating establishments." Love "The Deck" restaurant at sunset! I am so grateful to be able to grab a cocktail and watch the dolphins play. Fun live music most nights. Check out "The Deck" cabanas if you want to stay all day.
Do you want to check out Laguna Beach’s coastline but want more of a camping experience? Check out these
artist designed vans with a table, queen size bed, fridge, camping stove and propane. I’ve been seeing them around town lately. You have to check out their You Tube video to see a one-minute tour of the inside of the van. The link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4x9-6cpZIY. The company website is: http://www.escapecampervans.com. Hope to see you in Laguna Beach soon! Here in Laguna Beach, you will find many interesting characters. For the last couple of years we have had "Frisbee Guy" playing solo frisbee on PCH so everyone going by can check out his amazing skills. I've missed his the last couple of days - I don't think he likes the cold weather.
Did you know that a female skull was found at this location on St. Ann's Street in Laguna Beach, and it is the oldest human remains found in the Western Hemisphere? The carbon-dating was done at UCLA in 1968. To learn more, go to: http://www.light-headed.com/asite/laguna/laguna_history/laguna_woman_1.php. On my "Hip District" tour that I am in the final stages of researching, we will go by this Pueblo revival style house where the skull was dug up.
Good morning Laguna Beach! There are still a few spots open for my Laguna Beach Walks walking tours this Saturday the 12th at 3:30pm and Sunday the 13th at 9am. Let's get a little exercise while we explore this beautiful seaside community! Go to www.LagunaBeachWalks.com to book your tour today.
On my Laguna Beach Walks tour, almost everyone asks about where to park. This parking structure is 2 stories and it is right behind Nick's restaurant, Tommy Bahamas and Gelato Paradiso. You can access it from Glenneyre St. which runs parallel to PCH. This lot only takes credit cards and dollars (no quarters).
