Do you know today is "Drive Your Woodie Day"? It is a day to take your woodie out for a drive to the local ice cream store, a car show, or a ride in the country. I will be counting how many woodies I see parked at the Shake Shack in Crystal Cove. For more information about woodies, go to: www.nationalwoodieclub.com.

Earlier this week I passed by our Gazebo in Heisler Park and noticed a bunch of plein air painters. I love watching them in action! We have a plein air association here in Laguna Beach with fun events and workshops. For more information, go to www.lpapa.org.
Were you also wondering why the public American flags were flying half-staff yesterday? It was for Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week, honoring those officers who have died while protecting our lives. If any of you know or are related to a police officer, please tell them thank you for me and that I really appreciate them!
I love showing off beautiful Laguna Beach and I'm so glad my guests love it too! Here is the lastest TripAdvisor 5 star review: "I recently went on the Hip District Tour with Janelle and am so grateful that I did! We're new to the Orange County area and though we had a sense of what to see and do in Laguna Beach from driving and walking on our own, Janelle opened up my eyes to not only the beaches, restaurants and shops that are a 'must see',
but also to the wealth of art, culture and history that exists on every street. It was highly informative without being overwhelming, a great walk without being tiring, and Janelle is a delight to spend time with. I highly recommend that any local person or traveler takes the time to spend a few hours with Janelle learning about this very special, unique town." When you step into the Sound Spectrum in Laguna Beach, you step back in time. A time when Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison were popular. It is time to dust off your old record player and rediscover vinyl. As Timothy Leary once said, "You can always pick up your needle and move to another groove".
Did you know Bird Rock was once the outer anchor for Laguna Beach's pier which was destroyed in a rare
tropical storm that hit the L.A. area in September 1939? From the Gazebo, it extended over the tide pools and was first built in 1896. The Sandpiper Lounge is the one and only true dive bar in Laguna Beach. Nicknamed, "The Dirty Bird", it has great music, strong drinks and even a dart board. Just make sure you have a designated driver to keep you and others safe, not to mention there are police watching everyone who exits and walks to their cars. Have fun then hail a cab!
On my Hip District Tour, we stroll by this amazing garden. The owner just entered it into the Rogers Gardens 2013 California Friendly garden contest. The winner gets $1500. Here is your first look at "Warriors United" which is part of the Broadway Beautification Project. What a great way for locals and visitors to enter Laguna Beach from the Canyon. Thanks goes to our outstanding Arts Commission and the City of Laguna Beach!
Andree's Patisserie is hard to find but check out the stellar reviews on Yelp! It is located on PCH through an alley, next to the closed French 75 restaurant. The next time you are in the mood for a cheese croissant or danish, go to Andree's!
