Finished up the streets in Emerald Bay today. Two more walking days to go until I schedule my Grand Finale, Pacific Coast Highway. I’m planning on live streaming the entire walk through Instagram. Please comment below if you’d rather me walk PCH on a Friday, Sunday or Memorial Day (Monday)? Or does it even matter? And if anyone knows the story behind the life size Charlie Chaplin statue, please comment below. I’m dying to know! @erincapo @celesteinlb @daisycapo @heather.loughlin @saylagunabeach #charliechaplinstatue #emeraldbaylagunabeach #emptybeach #tunneltothebeach #swansonpark #northlagunabeach #walkeverystreet #soclosetobeingdone

Finished up some random streets in north Laguna: High Drive, Locust Street, Boat Canyon, Cedar Way, Cajon Street and a couple small dead end streets off of Hillcrest Drive. The house pictured on Locust was built in 1929 and is a Pueblo revival bungalow style. The roof line is curved and the stucco siding is rough. The multi-paned, arched window is the structure’s focal point. Also, love the brick wall with the dog and barbell mortared into it. #puebloarchitecture #brickandmortar #interestingbrickwall #treehouse #boatcanyon #northlagunabeach #walkeverystreet #walklagunabeach #urbanhiking
Lots of hills in Emerald Bay! Even though it’s not technically part of Laguna Beach, I’m walking their streets because it is surrounded on both sides by LB. @realharoldnoriega @saylagunabeach #emeraldbaylagunabeach #behindthegates #lotsofhills #walkabletown #ditchyourcar #explorelagunabeach #walkeverystreet
Today I walked Camel Point Drive and Aliso Way. I’m so close to finishing my New Year’s Resolution! #pleasepickupafteryourdog #casablanca #camelpoint #alisodrive #gatedcommunity #walkeverystreet #crossingoffstreets #newyearsresolution2020 #lagunabeachonfoot #walkabletown
Today I gained access to Smithcliffs, a gated community in north Laguna. There’s one circular street with around 20 estate-sized homes. Smithcliff’s has a couple well known former residents: Mossimo Giannulli and Pancho Barnes (Pancho lived in LB in the Roaring ‘20s and early ‘30s). Fun facts about Pancho: pioneered American aviation; established the nation’s first military air unit; installed a landing strip on her 40 acre Smithcliff property; flew in famous Hollywood celebrities for parties and flew in liquor from Mexico during Prohibition; when Pancho wanted to get her pilot’s license, a roadblock was Orville Wright who reviewed and signed all application requests. He didn’t think women should fly or even drive cars. For her application picture, she dressed like a man, had dirty fingernails and held a cigarette. She refused to mark male or female on the application. She was accepted! First stunt pilot in Hollywood; Broke Amelia Earhart’s air speed record; Owned the Happy Bottom Riding Club: a bar, dude ranch and restaurant in the Mojave Desert, catering to the test pilots and aviators; Pancho was depicted in the 1983 biography, “The Right Stuff”; 1988 made for TV movie about Pancho stared Valerie Bertinelli; 2000 PBS documentary on Pancho used Kathy Bates as her voice; founded the Association of Motion Picture Pilots; 4 marriages and one son. #panchobarnes #smithcliffs #smithcliffslagunabeach #walkeverystreet #newyearsresolution #gatedcommunity #privatecommunity #igotthecode
A couple of my kids took advantage of the beaches opening back up from 6am-10am M-F. Saw their friends for the first time in 2 months and got in some great exercise.
Picked up a few streets today that I missed when previously in thoses area: Barracuda Way and Loretta Drive near Moulton Meadows Park; then San Remo Drive, Donna Drive, and the last part of Temple Hills Drive. At the end of my walk a gardener pointed out to me two small baby birds who must have fallen out of their nest. Their mom kept calling for them. They were walking toward the busy street. I didn’t know what to do so I scooped them up with a big leaf and put them near where I thought the nest was. I couldn’t see a nest because of a large hedge and other foliage. Hope they found their mom! #crossingoffstreets #walkeverystreet #explorelagunaonfoot #walkingtourlagunabeach #walklagunabeach #itsfiveoclocksomewhere #barracudastreet
Today I conquered Broadway Place and Ramona Avenue. Check out LagunaBeachWalls.com for my short interview with Elaine. #checkoffstreets #tonysgarden #elainesbirdscarlet #ramonaavenue #broadwayplace #longtimelocal
Today I walked around Jahraus Park in north Laguna. This is a tiny park named after Elmer Jahraus. He was the first president of our town’s Chamber of Commerce, founded Laguna Beach Lumber Company in 1912 (now Ganahl Lumber), first realtor in town, and saved Heisler Park from development. There are two pieces of public art there: “Boy and Dog” circa 1933 (oldest piece of art in city’s collection), and Deer Warrior. Also, back in 2018, Laguna held our first Arbor Day celebration at this park hosted by @phantom_plantsman . During this event, the local kids (my youngest was there) helped plant a Torrey Pine tree which is native to northern San Diego county and Santa Rosa Island. @jen_francisco #torreypine #beachesareclosed #jahrauspark #walkeverystreet #almostfinished #newyearsresolution2020 #boyanddogpublicart #deerwarrior #sidewalksunning
