We love Eiler Larsen in Laguna Beach! Yesterday I walked his street which is next to our public library because he loved to read books. On my “Downtown Adventure Hunt” for kids, once they find his statue, the question they have to answer is, “What’s in his pocket?”. A book!

Debbie was not working! Neither were my favorite produce experts. Because all the other employees who I don’t know as well would think I’m weird for asking them on camera to help me pick a winner I decided to leave. On our way out we ran into Ishmael, the longtime Gina’s Pizza employee. Robinrl is the WINNER! Congratulations! I’ll be contacting you via email. #joovyboot #joovy #shoppingbag #shoppingcart @joovy #contestwinner #ditchyourcar #walktothemarket #strolltothemarket Video picking the winner is on Laguna Beach Walks Instagram.

Skipper sits on the bench every home game and many away games. .
. Fun facts about Skipper: . LBHS baseball field is named after him. . His nickname is "Mr. Laguna". . He calls his house "The Dugout". . He coined the phrase "Have a Home Run Day" . At Riddle Field, our little league baseball field, you can buy a "Have a Home Run Day" bumper sticker at the snack bar. . . He regularly wears a full baseball uniform when he leaves his house. . He helps the LBHS varsity baseball team by calling out each half inning during home games. . He always has a smile and a kind word for every person he encounters. . #skippercarrillo #mrlaguna #haveahomerunday #lbhscif #lbhsbasketball . . Photo credit by Jake! Thank you!!! (1/3) Early this morning, right after the rain stopped, I walked Cliff Drive, which runs along side the most beautiful park in the world, Heisler Park. Because there are so many things to see on this street (and in the Park) I have to break up the post into three parts. Highlights include:
. Bronze snail attached to the wall next to entrance of the famous Laguna Art Museum. Tim Shockley is the artist. . Colorful bench created by local artist, Marlo Bartels. The Chess & Checkers public art in Main Beach is also from Mr. Bartels. . . Las Brisas patio- best brunch in town with the best ocean views! . Gazebo - local landmark. Up until the late 1930’s, there was a pier from the Gazebo to Bird Rock. . California Coastal Trail marker. . . Sculpture by Jerry Rothman. Is it an elephant? Character from Dr. Seuss? Rooster? . “Rock Pile Carve” bench over looking local surf spot, Rock Pile. The stone represents a wave and the bench represents a surfboard cutting through the wave. . “Tidepool Paddleboard” artist designed bench. The hand blown glass reflects what we can see in the tide pools below. (2/3) Continuing on walking Cliff Drive. Additional highlights:
. Laguna Beach Sister Cities garden. . Another public art piece by Jerry Rothman. It’s titled, “In Central Park”. I call it a dead, withering rose. Love how it pops up from the bushes! . “Breaching Whale” public art by Jon Seeman. His studio is in The Canyon. . Amphitheater- city puts on free concerts here in the summer. . . Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club with a million dollar ocean view. . . “A Rocky Ledge” bench overlooking Diver’s Cove. . “Rendezvous” public art. Artist has the girl perfectly balanced on the guy’s leg. He says this represents the balance in a relationship between trust and love. . . #sistercitiesgarden #deadflower #breachingwhale #amphitheatre #lawnbowlingclub #artistdesignedbench #rendezvousart #explorelagunabeach (3/3) Finishing up Cliff Drive:
. Balancing rocks. . Heisler Park sign showing land was set aside in 1906 - no developing on it - deeded to the city in 1951. . “Trio” bench by Jorg Dubin. This artist plays the drums in a band...plays at Zinc Cafe sometimes. He is also the artist who created our 9/11 Memorial piece near Monument Point. . . “Strand of Life” public art is a metal octopus covering a rock and a bench backrest that resembles a strand of kelp. Overlooks Diver’s Cove. . Seal Rock is a refuge for seals and is off the coast of Crescent Bay Beach. . The Map is free and can be printed from LagunaBeachWalks.com. It shows you how to get to all these places and more! . . #freemap #heislerparkwalk #stackedrocks #developingnotallowed #artistdesignedbench #sealrock #crescentbaybeach #cliffdrive #ditchyourcar #mostbeautifulpark #lagunabeachwalks |
