Hollywood has Mann's Chinese Theatre with famous actors' footprints, but we have the footprints of our Greeter, Eiler Larsen! From the 1940s through the early 1970s, he stood on the street and waved to all who passed by. Learn more about Eiler Larsen and see these footprints in person on my Laguna Beach Walks walking tours.

Scuba divers from all over the world come to Laguna Beach to dive. Shaws Cove and Divers Cove are the most popular dive sites where you can see garibaldi, sting rays, reef fish, leopard sharks, and sea lions. If you are looking to meet other divers, check into the "Laguna Sea Dwellers" club.
I love it when the neighbors share their abundant citrus harvest! Just put your money in the coffee can as you drive by and you can have the freshest produce around.
This Saturday I saw some of the best waves ever at Rock Pile. We walk past this local surf spot on my Heisler Park / Downtown Tour, but usually only see a couple surfers out. Saturday was epic!
Top 10 Reasons Why I Love Mozambique
Walking into Mozambique Steakhouse Bar and Lounge, you know this will be different when you are greeted by talking parrots and toucans. Here are my top 10 reasons why I love Mozambique in Laguna Beach: 10. Valet Parking It is only $5. You can also find parking on your own near the restaurant, but if you do, I would also buy a lottery ticket because it is your lucky day! 9. History Prior to being a steakhouse, this restaurant served Mexican food and was called “Tortilla Flats,” named after the book John Steinbeck wrote while living in Laguna Beach. 8. Ten HD Screens Watch your favorite sports team win from one of many rooms offering flat screen TV's. 7. Group Dining and Special Events Because real estate is at a premium in Laguna Beach, there are not many restaurants with capacity for large groups. There is plenty of room for weddings and corporate events. 6. Peri-Peri Spice This Swahili word for 'pepper pepper' is inspired from the restaurant's African roots. Mozambique is known for its steaks, but the Peri-Peri prawns are on must try on the menu. 5. Pet-friendly In Laguna Beach, dogs are very much a part of our lives. You can dine with your pooch in the Garden Patio or the Veranda Rooftop. 4. Happy Hours Drinks and food are discounted at certain times on different floors of the restaurant. I suggest calling the restaurant for details as they may change with the seasons. 3. Safe Ride Mozambique offers free pick up and drops-offs within 3 miles of the restaurant. This will come in handy after partaking in reason #4. 2. Veranda Rooftop The breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean highlight this newly built rooftop. This is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail at sunset! 1. Live Music If you are looking to get your groove on, Reggae, Blues and Caribbean music dominate their schedule. Come in to enjoy the music, or watch it live, streaming from their website at www.MozambiqueOC.com. Thanks to Dalia Taft for this picture and newspaper cut out. She is the archivist for the Orange County Jewish Historical Society and came on my Heisler Park / Downtown Tour last week. Did you know this building on Broadway was once a Jewish Community Center ('79-'96). Before that it was a Dean Witter office and before that a post office. Shalom!
There is a gal in town that takes our funny police blotter entries and puts them on beverage coasters. From the Laguna News-Post today, here are some quotes she can use for her next "Coaster Crimes": "A resident said a woman was going door to door asking for wine." "A caller said a man in his 50s was doing bike tricks in traffic, posing a hazard to motorists." A caller said a man in his 20s got out of a silver-colored car and began drinking beer." At least that last guy wasn't drinking and driving...he waited until he was stopped and out of his car.
Guess who crashed the Golden Globes this year? Our very own Michael Minutoli, aka the new Greeter. Check out this picture in People Magazine, where he was hangin' with Lady Gaga. You can see Michael most days in front of Sapphire restaurant with his captain's hat, white gloves, and colorful blazer waving to all who pass by.
"Today I will be happier than a bird with a French fry". I saw that quote yesterday in the window of Tuvalu in downtown Laguna Beach. If you need help being happier than that bird, try our Laughter Yoga club with meetings on the sand. For more information, go to: http://lyinstitute.org/the-laughter-club-experience/.
Yesterday, I took 20 guests on my Heisler Park/Downtown tour. They requested to see a gallery during the tour. Thanks to the Joanne Artman Gallery for showing my tour guests your exhibiting artists and providing interesting facts about each of them. If you book a private tour, please let me know if you want to go into a gallery and I will make the arrangements.
