I am very sad to report the iconic, Cottage Restaurant, will be closing on December 26, 2012, after 48 years in business. On December 6th at 6:00pm, they will be serving free chili, cornbread and cider, as they celebrate their time they had here in Laguna Beach. We will all miss them!

Vintage clothing and one-of-a-kind treasures. Diane and Michael's store is a couple businesses south of Orange Inn on the beach side of PCH. We will be passing this shop on my second Laguna Beach Walks walking tour. You also have to check out Tuvalu's sale today. Everything in the store is 25% off and if you buy $100 worth of items, you get a $20 gift card!!!
Check out the approximately 400 hand painted palettes throughout Laguna Beach for the holiday season! Cat + Poinsettia = Christmas to me! Cherub + Yield sign = ???
This is Elaine and her cat, Georgie. I met them on one of my research walks for Tour #2. Elaine lives in a turn of the century cottage transplanted from Main Beach decades ago. She rescues plants, birds, cats and old wheelbarrows. She takes charge of beautifying every empty nook and cranny of her Laguna Beach neighborhood. Where there is nothing, she takes her eclectic finds – rocks, succulents, mini toys – and arranges them in such a beautiful way. She is a master outdoor designer. Hopefully you can all meet her when we walk by her place. Elaine gave me a couple cuts from a few of her succulents. She also gave me some gardening tips. I will do my best to keep these plants alive. I hope I don't let her down!
This morning when I announced to the family I was going on my morning walk, my two boys cheerfully asked if they could go too?!?!? I took my phone so we could call hubby to pick us up when they got tired, and ended up taking lots of pictures on our fun Sunday morning walk. Bench in front of Ocean Brew, by artists Larry Gill and Gavin Heath. This is the latest bench commissioned in Laguna's bench project. Tuvalu is ready for the Christmas shopping season! The boys couldn't help but snicker at the mermaid resting outside of Tuvalu without a shirt on. Another bench to rest on in front of the library. The artists are Helma Bovenizer and Valerie Gorrell. Checking the surf at Brooks St. with the red hot pokers blooming! Passing Penguin Cafe. Hubby said we had to stop by Laguna Coffee Pub to check out this 8th grader with an amazing voice. She plays every Sunday morning. Can't wait to see her at the high school in the next four years in some musicals! Taking a break at Sapphire restaurant. The animals on the roof are all decorated for the holiday season! Greeter with the boys. More red hot pokers blooming. Said Hi to Ref Shawn working at Laguna Surf & Sport. He refs the kids games at the Boys & Girls Club, hubby's softball games and flag football at the high school. We also ran into Piper's soccer coach and his wife at Laguna Surf & Sport. They were looking for bathing suits for their Thanksgiving trip to Hawaii. Exhausted, we stopped by Uncle Bryan and Aunt Michelle's house. They were not home so we had to call hubby to pick us up. Fun Sunday morning walking Laguna with the boys!
In case you were wondering if Jimmy Buffett has a tattoo, the answer is YES!!! In case you were wondering where Jimmy Buffett got inked, it was here in Laguna Beach in 1993. Steve, the owner of "Laguna Tattoo", was the artist who permanently marked the famous singer and restauranteur with a gecko. Come on my second "Laguna Beach Walks" walking tour and we can go check out Jimmy's picture on the wall at "Laguna Tattoo"
