To thank all those who have supported Laguna Beach Walks this past year, I'm hosting a gallery event tomorrow night at the Laguna Gallery of Contemporary Art. It starts at 6:30 PM with presentations by exhibiting artists Ellen Benfatti and Jim Marshall. Light appetizers and wine will be served. Hope to see you there!
This is your chance! This is the only time of the year the Hortense Miller Garden is open without having to make a reservation. Come check out the spring blooms on this 2 1/2 acre property in north Laguna Beach, on March 9th from 11am-4pm. For more information, go to: http://www.hortensemillergarden.org.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped get Riddle Field ready for the 2013 Little League season yesterday. We had Zero Trash Laguna spearheading the clean up, the coaches prepping the field, and some mom's organizing the snack bar. Of course there is a public art piece at Riddle: Steven Harmon's "Cathexis", which is a sculpture of intertwined scrolls.
Time to check out some of Laguna Beach's interesting architecture. This Tudor Revival style building on PCH was built in 1937 by architect Aubrey St. Clair. Check out the elaborate chimney capped with terra cotta pots and the overlay of wood on stucco called half-timbering. Aubrey also designed the Fire Department, City Hall and the Water District buildings in town. Gotta give credit to the Smith Brothers Building for their construction of this building which initially housed their offices.
Have you ever been at the beach, got super hungry, but didn't want to leave? Download the Subway app and place your order. They deliver anywhere in Laguna Beach for free. They even deliver every day to the schools, so place your order, and your child can pick up their lunch in the school office.

Janelle Naess (above), owner of Laguna Beach Walks, is thanking all whose support has made Laguna Beach Walks such a success in its first year with a party serving wine and light refreshments. Laguna Beach Walks was rated the #1 activity in Laguna Beach on TripAdvisor.com. Join the party on Thursday Feb 28, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Laguna Gallery of Contemporary Art, 611 S. Coast Hwy. Enjoy presentations by exhibiting artists Ellen Benfatti and Jim Marshall. Come to Second Reef Surf Shop at Thalia and PCH to refill your Laguna Beach Walks reusable water bottle. You will save the planet AND some hard earned cash! Use that extra money to buy a killer new swim suit for the summer.
There is a new artist designed bench in Heisler Park! Larry Gill and Gavin Heath created a bench of cast and blown glass in concrete called, "Tide Pool Paddleboard". Come see it in person on my Heisler Park/Downtown walking tour!
If you come on my Heisler Park/Downtown walking tour, you will see this piece from artist Jerry Rothman. He developed a no-shrink clay to support cantilevered structures that could not previously have been made. Anyone know the name of the other Jerry Rothman piece that is installed in Heisler Park?
