In the 1950s, #lagunabeach was one of only five beaches to hold open volleyball tournaments in California. Each event was partnered with a beauty contest. #lagunabeachvolleyball #volleyball #beachvolleyball

Holiday palettes are up in #lagunabeach. There are over 200 decorating our town with some new ones every year. The city also  has a children's palette competition. The winners are selected in November and designs are exhibited at City Hall all of December.

Who is Carol Leifer? Brilliant comedian and writer who worked with Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, performed on all the late night talk shows, who recently wrote a book called, "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Crying". What is the book about? What to do and what not to do when starting out your career in whatever industry you choose. Her stories of successes and failures tell valuable life lessons in a way that make you laugh. Thanks Carol for coming out to one of the only independent bookstores left around, Laguna Beach Books. Yesterday I took my kids on a super fun James Dilley Nature Hike supported by the Laguna Canyon Foundation. Some of what we learned:
- 20,000 acres of wilderness
- was gonna be 3,400 houses and 2 golf courses
- Barbara's Lake is the only natural lake in Orange County
- Prickly Pear and Cholla cactuses are prevalent in the Laguna Beach Canyon
- Mistletoe is a parasite living in an off the Sycamore trees
- Mexican Elderberry was the plant Native Americans found most useful
