Not gonna lie...I’m very conflicted by this tribute to the late Kobe Bean Bryant. His death hit hard in my household. I have two sons who play basketball now and a husband who played in college. We’ve been talking about Kobe’s work ethic and winning attitude with the kids. Love that someone was thoughtful and hung “24” on our hoop at Main Beach. I’m concerned the balloons will come loose and fly into out precious ocean. Mylar balloons are not biodegradable and are so bad for our marine life. Hoping the city grabs them before they get loose. #ripmamba #gonetoosoon #mainbeachbasketballcourts #tributetokobe @lagunabeachgov @cityoflagunabeach

I only trespassed a little when I peeked into a yard and saw a zip line!!! Going in further, I see a play structure as good or better than city parks. This yard also had a trampoline, basketball court and a killer garden. Does anyone with small children know about this property on Sandpiper Drive? Other highlights of my walk up Nyes Place include: .
Living wall of succulents decorating the front of a house
Check out my story today featuring a house decorated with statues! .

Lots of Magnolia trees on both sides of the street. .
My favorite front door with fun sign.
The oldest, still standing, home in north Laguna. 1907.

Walked at sunset tonight. Highlights include:
Beach volleyball guy!
Wild bunnies everywhere.
Trojan Fan Parking placard - I’m pretty sure we’re not allowed to bolt personal signs on city signs???
Tree swing. When my kids were 4, 3, and 1, it was super hard to buckle them in three car seats so I would tell the kids we were going to “The Park!” I would stroller them to this swing (tire swing back then) and they would play for an hour and get tired. .
Poplar entrance to hiking trail.
Provincial style cottage highlighted in the 1987 book called “The Cottages and Castles of Laguna”. .

Still not 100% so walking close to home. Today I conquered Monterey St. and Cypress Dr. Highlights include:
Both streets are One Way which is very unusual in most residential areas.
Huge, old cacti
Unitarian Universalist Church in the middle of residential housing operational here since 1973. I checked their website and they support “the free and responsible search for truth and meaning”.
Monterey St. has a dedicated bike/walk lane!

I’m almost back from being sick. Took it easy today with only a couple streets. Highlights of Cedar Way and Hill Street:
Chalkboard imbedded into a brick wall
Interesting items throughout wall
Hill St per Laguna Beach Independent, “The road signs are part of the Laguna Art Museum’s 100th anniversary and were conceived by its executive director, Malcolm Warner, to inspire visitors and residents to learn more about the town’s history and the roles the artists played in the city’s development and culture.
Two of the streets slated for new signage are Cuprien Way and Hill Street, formerly Hills Street. Their namesakes, artists Anna Hills and Frank Cuprien, along with Edgar Payne in 1918 founded the organization that gave rise to today’s current museum, the Laguna Beach Art Association.”
Lastly, there is no smoking anywhere in Laguna Beach. In addition, there is no littering. Thank you!
