Yesterday, my daughter went to a wonderful birthday party in Heisler Park, overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. The party mom had to get there at 6am to reserve the spot, but it was worth it.

"Grace" is the most recent public art in Laguna Beach created at the new lifeguard HQ at Main Beach.5/18/2014 "Grace", is the most recent public art commissioned for Laguna Beach at the newly constructed lifeguard headquarters at Main Beach. Terry Thornsley created this bronze, copper and stainless steel mural that includes two figures rowing a dory through churning seas. We will stop at this impressive piece on my Heisler Park/ Downtown Tour. Go to www.LagunaBeachWalks.com to purchase tickets for this fun and engaging two-hour walking tour.
Summer banners are up! Over 70 banners with original art work on display through Labor Day5/16/2014 Summer banners are up! In 1982, the Laguna Beach Arts Commission started an annual banner competition. Now we have over 70 banners with original art work (4' x 16') displayed all over town. The 2014 banner winners can be seen at Main Beach through Labor Day.
Most houses in Laguna Beach do not have air conditioning. With temperatures hitting 105 degrees yesterday, the beach was the only place to be. Thanks Patti for this awesome photo!
Did you know Laguna Beach has a yacht club, even though we don't have a marina? Their motto is "good living, good times, and have a sunny outlook on life". Check out their website at www.LagunaBeachYachtClub.com
Summer is almost here. Time to start thinking about how to get in, out, and around Laguna Beach.5/13/2014 Summer is almost here, so that means it is time to start thinking about how to get in, out, and around Laguna Beach with all our traffic and parking issues. My first suggestion would be to go to www.LagunaBeachCity.net and search for "Parking".
Other suggestions: - Be patient and just smile while driving 1 MPH - Park far and enjoy the walk to your destination - Have a game plan before you come to town - Park between the lines; tires cannot be touching lines - Don't be one minute late putting change in meters Enjoy the journey, and the destination! At the top of the the Dartmoor Hike in north Laguna Beach, we popped open the champagne to toast a birthday girl. Great hike, great friends with a great view!
Flashback Friday! This picture is the 1945 baseball team from the Laguna Beach High School yearbook. Other notables from 1945:
- First class stamp cost 3 cents - Franklin D. Roosevelt dies and Truman becomes US President - John Steinbeck wrote "Cannery Row" - Anne Frank dies in a concentration camp - Grand Rapids, Michigan becomes the first community to fluoridate its water supply Walking around Heisler Park, I usually see a plein air painter doing their thing. En plein air in French means "in open air". You can also describe this as peinture sur le motif , which means "painting on the ground". For more events and workshops in Laguna Beach, en plein air, go to LPAPA.org (Laguna Plein Air Painters Association).
Almost every day I drive under the pedestrian bridge near Aliso Beach. How do you access it? Who uses it? I had to find out and I did. The access to the beach side bridge is half way between The Montage and Aliso Beach. Inland side, the entrance is in Aliso Circle, which is a private community with no beach parking. There is not much PCH parking so most of the use is for the Aliso Circle residents. These people must not be beach people because I have never seen anyone on that bridge, ever. Have you? |
