This kale garden was most recently a cornfield with stalks 7 feet tall. I love taking my HIP District tour guest past this area and checking out all the new veggies.
On my Hip District Tour, we stroll by this amazing garden. The owner just entered it into the Rogers Gardens 2013 California Friendly garden contest. The winner gets $1500. Blue Agave vacation rental home in the Hip District has a fun Laker themed garden. Well, because of last night, the garden has to go. I'll keep you updated on the next color scheme. In the meantime, if you are looking for a house to rent, very near the ocean, while you are vacationing in Laguna Beach, go to BlueAgaveLaguna.com.
Last month one of my posts was about Hotel Seven4one's Living Wall. Check out this Living Table! What a great idea for the backyard!
Have you ever seen huge blooms like this coming from an aloe plant? We stroll by this garden on my Hip District Tour. The Mountain Aloe plant can grow up to 15 feet tall, is native to South Africa, and was a traditional remedy for tapeworm.
Did anyone see the movie, "Guilt Trip", featuring Barbara Streisand and Seth Rogen? The movie used a pair of these bull heads, along with other items from Laguna Nursery, for their set. You can buy the pair of bull heads for only $45,000. If you just want to buy some $5 flowers for your garden, you can do that too. Happy shopping!
You have to check out Alegría Farm, located here in Laguna Beach, CA. It is a new commercial hydroponic
vertical farm employing over 170 towers growing over 10,000 plants in less than 1/4 acre. Tours are every Saturday at 3pm for $15. You can buy a produce "bouquet" to be delivered to your house weekly or you can buy your own stacked produce garden system. For more information, go to www.alegriafresh.com. This is your chance! This is the only time of the year the Hortense Miller Garden is open without having to make a reservation. Come check out the spring blooms on this 2 1/2 acre property in north Laguna Beach, on March 9th from 11am-4pm. For more information, go to: http://www.hortensemillergarden.org.
