Did anyone happen to catch the movie, "All Quiet on the Western Front" last night on TCM (Turner Classic Movies)? It was filmed in Laguna Beach and one of the actors, Slim Summerville, used to live in what is now the Beach House restaurant. The movie won an Oscar in 1930 for Best Picture.

My First Hip District Review on TripAdvisor.com:
The Hip District Tour was so enlightening! I recently moved to the area and thought I had experienced much of the town. However, after strolling the shops, restaurants, cottage home gardens and back alleys with Janelle, I found that there were so many undiscovered places that I had never visited. Her expertise on the history, art and architecture of the area, as well as the many random, uncovered stories she shared, gave me a much better understanding and appreciation for the creative side of Laguna Beach. I am really looking forward to the upcoming Gallery tours. Don't drag sand in your house after a day at the beach. Wash off with this killer surf board outdoor shower. You can check it out at Laguna Nursery in Laguna Beach or go to www.LagunaNursery.net.
How about some wine, music and architecture? This Wednesday night the "Laguna Friends of Architecture" will be meeting to hear about the evolution of the '70's Laguna architecture to today's new Laguna homes, and what has caused construction methods and styles to change over the past 4 decades. Then on to music from guitarist and cellist Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire. For more information go to: http://lagunafriendsarch.com/
Louis Longi created one of my favorite benches overlooking Main Beach. It's called "Support", paying tribute to the city of Laguna Beach and how they support the arts through commissioned projects and annual art festivals. Check out Louis's new Live/Work/Create facility he is working on in the Canyon. It will house 30 artists working, living and creating together. The website is: http://www.longilwc.com.
How fun is it to go Plein Air painting with your BFF?
Saw these gals while on my Hip District Tour. Lovely! Happy Friday everyone! How about a sunset cocktail at Las Brisas overlooking the gorgeous Pacific Ocean? Cut out of work early and get to Laguna Beach! Before you start drinking, you have to check out the Laguna Art Museum next door. Admission is free now through February 17th. You can check out Timothy J. Clark's watercolors and watch the museum get ready for their big party on February 9th. They are calling it an "Art Auction" but if you check out their plans, it's a killer party!
