The purple Pride of Madeira are blooming all over Laguna Beach! Come on my Heisler Park/Downtown Tour to see these woody flowering stalks visited by bees and butterflies.

Creativity in Laguna Beach is everywhere, even when it comes to mailboxes. From the pelican, with the stolen (or accidentally found) "Drains To Ocean" plaque, to the mermaid, to the birdhouse ... all are unique and special. Just like Laguna Beach!
Last weekend I took some guests on one of my Fitness Walks. One gal used this Map My Walk app during our walk and I'm hooked! It's GPS based, used by Dr. Oz, and tracks your route, time, distance, speed, pace and calories. Best of all, it's FREE! You can create groups to work out together, which is nice if you have friends living in different cities. Great way to stay connected and in shape. Yesterday I was running some errands in south Laguna and decided to stop by The Montage. I forgot how pristine their public beach is, with world-class landscaped walking paths, and amazing public art. If you are visiting Laguna Beach, this area is a must-see!
Love Carmelita's bar area with a huge painting to the left and a TV screen in the middle. Perfect for watching March Madness basketball games. Go Shockers!!!
One of my favorite monthly events in Laguna Beach is "First Thursdays Art Walk". For LagunaBeach.com, I have written my "How To" guide for this event. Follow this link for all the juicy details:
http://lagunabeach.com/aroundtown/laguna-beachs-first-thursdays-art-walk-enjoy-it-like-a-pro/ In north Laguna Beach, there is a Tricom Management time share near Heisler Park. Every week they have last minute cancellations and can book you a room at a very reasonable rate. They told me they go as low as $130 per night for a room with a full kitchen during the off-season. For more information about their property, go to www.thegoodlifelaguna.com.
Today El Morro Elementary School in Laguna Beach held their jog-a-thon fundraiser. Thank you KX 93.5, Laguna's only radio station, for providing the tunes! Also, thanks to Kelly and Frana for warming the kids up. Best costumes ever!
Thank you Rod at CA Surf N' Paddle for your donation to the Laguna Beach Little League fundraiser! Rod is the owner, shaper and chief instructor at his full service surf shop. Stop by his two stores on PCH (next to Taco Bell) for wetsuits, swim suits or surf, SUP & skim lessons. For more info go to www.casurfshop.com.
You never know what you will find at Laguna Nursery on PCH. The other day I saw this mini version of the Giant Green Iguana listed on my LagunaBeachWalks.com website for sale. Jim Marshall is the artist for both iguanas. If you know anyone in the market for a 350 lb, 7 foot long iguana made from tracker parts, please contact me.
