My daughter has a big math test today so she wanted to go to the Laguna Beach library to study. The only place available was the Reference Room. Guess who greeted us as we walked in the room ... The Greeter, Eiler Larsen. You can hear a lot about him, see his two statues, footprints and street named after him on my Laguna Beach Walks tours.

Epic weekend in Laguna Beach. Temperatures hit 70s and 80s with some great surfing waves on Saturday. If you live where it's cold, plan your spring break here for some beautiful weather, great restaurants, and fun walking tours at LagunaBeachWalks.com!
Last week we had the best LBLL opening ceremony ever! Thank you S. Detweiler for this great picture of John Pietig, Tim Loughlin, John Carpino, Mark Christy, and Tom Toman. Read all about it at: http://lagunabeach.com/aroundtown/riddle-field-laguna-beachs-own-field-of-dreams/
Nick's, the number one rated restaurant in Laguna Beach on TripAdvisor, has an amazing breakfast menu. You have to order the "Fried Chicken and Waffle Stack". They only take reservations for half the restaurant so just plan on about a 20 minute wait for breakfast and 45 minutes for lunch and dinner. It's worth it!
Earlier this week a package arrived on my doorstep. It had a cute message on the front and when I opened it, there lay a beautiful Neiman Marcus box. One of my recent tour guests from Mississippi sent me a delicious box of gigantic chocolate chip cookies! I have the best job in the world meeting new people from all over the world and showing them the best of Laguna Beach! Thank you Mississippi couple!!!
A new restaurant just opened at Thalia and PCH called Hearties. They are open from 8am-9pm serving some gluten free and vegan items along with hamburgers, fries and salads. We pass this restaurant on my HIP District Tour. Maybe I'll see if they can give my tour guests a sample when we pass by. For more information go to their website at www.hearties.com.
Before I tell you what I'm about to tell you, I have to let you know, English was my least favorite class is school. I get sweaty palms trying to write a birthday card to a friend. Therefore, when LagunaBeach.com asked me to write a weekly blog for them (500+ words-yikes), I said, "Sure!". Check out my first two blogs on LagunaBeach.com. Before you do, please remember I'm not a writer and I'm just trying to showcase our amazing town to all visitors. Thanks and I hope you like my new blog: http://lagunabeach.com/aroundtown/hello-world/
After you have gone on one of my walking tours, I highly recommend going to Los Rios Street in San Juan Capistrano. It was a 3rd grade assignment for one of my kiddos and we had a great time. We learned this is the oldest neighborhood in California, settled by those who worked at the Mission. The house here had the first bathtub and charged 10 cents per bath.
This is our angry Pacific Ocean waiting for the next storm to roll in. The pictures below show how our city is getting ready for this weather by bulldozing part of Main Beach, the "Window to the Sea", and the installation of storm gates to keep stores from flooding.
