The other day I was jogging by Larry Gill's "Water Lilly" sculpture and saw him there fixing the water pump. Join me on my Heisler Park / Downtown Tour to see three of his pieces: "Water Lilly", "Tidepool Paddleboard", and "North and South Waves". You can also see Larry exhibiting at the Sawdust Festival this summer.

Ok folks. Time to check in on the gnome village on the corner of Cedar Way and High Drive. It has grown since I featured it last year. We now have a plain-air painting gnome with one of his finished pieces, and a Cirque du Soleil gnome swinging on his trapeze. Love driving by this village on my way home from Pavilions!
Recently on one of my HIP District walking tours, we ran into Sawdust exhibitor and found metal sculpture artist, James "Shamus" Koch. He took my group to his studio where he keeps his metal scraps and showed us where he creates and teaches classes. Every tour is a little different, depending on who we run into in town.
Ok folks. Tell me what you think about my newest blog on LagunaBeach.com. It's about how our town is dog-friendly. It also incorporates a love story with a shout out to one of our artists. All this in 500 words! http://lagunabeach.com/aroundtown/laguna-beach-loves-dogs/
The other day I was coming home from the grocery store and drove past a group of plain air painters with their easels in my alley. As my ice cream was melting, I had to find out what was going on? They were taking a class taught by Maria Bertran, who has a studio in the canyon, was born in Venezuela, and studied in Paris. She has painted just about every alley in Laguna and is now teaching others. How cool! Only in Laguna!
Creativity in Laguna Beach is everywhere, even when it comes to mailboxes. From the pelican, with the stolen (or accidentally found) "Drains To Ocean" plaque, to the mermaid, to the birdhouse ... all are unique and special. Just like Laguna Beach!
Yesterday I was running some errands in south Laguna and decided to stop by The Montage. I forgot how pristine their public beach is, with world-class landscaped walking paths, and amazing public art. If you are visiting Laguna Beach, this area is a must-see!
One of my favorite monthly events in Laguna Beach is "First Thursdays Art Walk". For LagunaBeach.com, I have written my "How To" guide for this event. Follow this link for all the juicy details:
http://lagunabeach.com/aroundtown/laguna-beachs-first-thursdays-art-walk-enjoy-it-like-a-pro/ You never know what you will find at Laguna Nursery on PCH. The other day I saw this mini version of the Giant Green Iguana listed on my LagunaBeachWalks.com website for sale. Jim Marshall is the artist for both iguanas. If you know anyone in the market for a 350 lb, 7 foot long iguana made from tracker parts, please contact me.
The other day stumbled upon Manfred Kuhnert's art gallery. Because everyone has a story, I had to find out about his. He has traveled all over the world to paint. Sold his paintings to celebrities and exhibited in famous galleries. Put his two kids through Ivy League schools by selling his artwork. He is now 83 years young, won't travel anymore, and is in his gallery 7 days a week. Go visit him at 1493 Glenneyre St. His website KuhnertsArtGallery.com.
