On my Laguna Beach Walks tours, we pass by a couple statues of Eiler Larsen, "The Greeter". Here are a few facts about him:
- He is from Denmark and left there to pursue his "Mission of Friendliness"
- In 1938 he was cast as Judas in "he Last Supper" in the Pageant of the Masters
- He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1918
- Hotel Laguna gave Eiler a free room in his later years
- Besides wandering the United States before settling in Laguna Beach, he also wandered Siberia, South America
