Top ten reasons why I loved this years' Laguna Beach Little League opening ceremonies:
1. Stands were packed with hundreds of fans - some with kids in the program and some without, bringing the community together.
2. The game was VFW vs Rotary, the two sponsors who have been with the program since its inception in 1952.
3. Loved having the Veterans of Foreign Wars represent their team, wearing their sharp uniforms, holding their salute during the National Anthem.
4. Free popcorn for everyone!
5. The cops didn't come this year because we got a temporary permit for amplified music for the National Anthem
6. Great guitar National Anthem performance by a little leaguer
7. The event was perfectly choreographed by league prez, Tim Loughlin and board member Celeste Gilles.
8. Clyde Wright, former MLB player, threw out the first pitch and gave some words of wisdom to the little leaguers such as, stay in school, respect your parents, and stay out of trouble.
9. Delicious Riddle burgers!
10. It was my little leaguers' 12th birthday!!!
